Accesories for Your Wedding: the Pashmina Shawl
Friday, February 26th, 2010Pashmina shawls are rather useful for all types of occasions since they are painless to fold up and put away in your shoulderbag if you get too warm. The wool of the pashmina acts as a very effective insulator, so rather than dragging around a heavy coat on a breezy summer or spring evening, a shawl will serve as a handy outer garment.
Pashmina shawls have now become very stylish as a wedding accessory at wedding parties. The last two summers in the UK have been pretty chilly, so maybe this has boosted this new style. Gold pashminas as well as cream an white are fashionable choices for wedding parties, and look wonderful if all the bridesmaids have same colour pashmina shawls.
With a larger shawl, it can also transform into a handy blanket for arduous journeys. And it goes without saying, a shawl can become a scarf for the winter too.
There are two main choices of pashmina - the 100% pure pashmina, and the 70% pashmina / 30% silk variety. The non-pure pashmina you can purchase at cheaper prices than the 100% pashmina opposite number, but it’s less soft. It’s up to you as to how you want to wear your pashmina shawl. Is it only for fashion purposes, and/or also a garment to keep out the cold too? I advocate 100% pashminas to keep out the cold.
